Photo privacy

A photo is optional. Before one is used, the builder asks you to confirm: “I have permission to use these photos.”

Originals are stored on the server that builds the book, in a private folder that the preview does not publish. They are not placed on the page. Each photo is used once, to paint a picture-book reference sheet in the same style as the story. Later pages are conditioned on that painted sheet.

When an order is sent to print, the original photos for that book are deleted. If you upload photos and never order, those originals are deleted 14 days after they were uploaded.

The painted reference sheets can remain with the generated preview on this server so the book stays consistent. They are illustrations, not the photographs you uploaded.
